Saskatoon police say a body discovered in a dumpster fire early Sunday morning is being investigated as a homicide.

Fire crews discovered the body after extinguishing a dumpster fire in the back alley of the 200 block of Avenue S South just after 6:30 a.m. Police have identified the victim as 22-year-old Mervin Clarence McAdam.

Police cordoned off two areas near the crime scene and had two persons of interest in the case in custody Sunday.

An autopsy is expected to be performed on Monday.
