It's supposed to be the thought that counts, but it turns out money talks when it comes to Valentine's Day and Saskatchewan residents are the country's biggest spenders.

A survey by BMO says the average Canadian will spend $126, with people in Saskatchewan leading the country on Valentine's Day spending.

The data shows an increase of 19.3 percent in Saskatchewan spending leading up to the big day. Gift ideas that will top the list include candy, flowers, greeting cards and jewelry.
