Police in Swift Current have arrested a man wanted on second-degree murder charges in a shooting in Winnipeg.

RCMP say they stopped a vehicle for a registration violation on the Trans-Canada Highway just east of Swift Current on Saturday.

Officers determined one of the passengers, 18-year-old Cody Joseph Kakeeway, was wanted for murder in a Dec. 7 shooting in Winnipeg.

Winnipeg police say they found 22-year-old Darren Paul George suffering from gunshot wounds in the city's west end. He later died in hospital.

Police say another man charged with second-degree murder in the death, 19-year-old Chance Moses Guimond, is still at large.
