Residents in Saskatoon's Montgomery neighbourhood were vocal Tuesday night in their displeasure over a proposal to erect a 400-foot wind turbine at the landfill.

The concept still needs the approval of Saskatoon City Council, but the city held a forum at Montgomery School to discuss the possibility.

The structure would see a propeller of about 120 meters above the landfill. It would create enough electricity to power between 450 and 600 homes. At a total cost of $5 million, the project would pay for itself in about eight years, and net an estimated $4.5 million over a 20-year-life cycle.
