A verdict has been reached in the trial of a youth accused of killing 19-year-old Charlotte Jolly in Saskatoon.

Jolly was found dead September 1, 2009 following a confrontation with two groups of young people on the street.

Friday morning, a judge found the accused guilty of manslaughter, instead of second degree murder. The judge believed the youth, who was 16 at the time of the offence, fired a shot at Jolly from a 22-calibre rifle, but said the prosecution failed to prove he intended to kill her.

As for sentencing, the prosecution is requesting he be sentenced as an adult. A ruling on that is expected by June 17.
