This weekend some competitive canines will be vying for the title of Best in Show in Prince Albert. Out of 175 dogs competing in a three-day dog show, only six will walk away winners.

Cathy Cinnamon knows what it takes to be crowned Best in Show. She's been part of the competitive canine circuit for more than 25 years.

"I think you start training the dogs when they're puppies so they're prepared for what they will go through when they're in the ring. So these dogs have all been trained since they were like, six, seven weeks old," said Cinnamon.

And she's not the only one passionate about pooches at the Prince Albert Kennel and Obedience Club dog show.

Cindy Kowalchuk-Corrijal has been an all-breed professional handler for 25 years. Her dogs have competed in shows across North America.

"The sport of training dogs, pushing them up to their potential to make them into great career dogs is most exciting," said Kowalchuk-Corrijal.

The 175 dogs that are competing in the show this year are working for some high stakes, says show superintendent, Kathy Horne.

"All of these dogs that are here are working toward their Canadian championship. If they have their Canadian championship, they're going towards the high in their particular breed for Canada, so it's pretty important," said Horne.

There's just one more day left for these competitive canines to captivate the judges.
